Teff flour comes from the ground teff seed that originated in the North East African countries of Ethiopia and Eritera and is now gaining popular around the globe.

Teff has a mild, nutty flavour boasting many nutritional benefits. It boasts a good balance of amino acids and is also high in calcium, iron and protein. On top of this it is also gluten free so suitable for coeliacs disease, sensitivity or intolerance.

Teff flour has been traditionally used for making flat bread and more recently as an ingredient in baking gluten free cakes, biscuits and slices. They also make a delicious gluten free Pancake that comes highly recommended.

Interesting Facts about Teff:

Teff grain was one of the earliest plants to be domesticated in the Ethiopian Highlands. It is believed this was sometime between 4000 and 1000 BC.

Teff grain is the smallest grain in the world. It takes approximately 150 grains of teff to equal 1 grain of wholewheat.
