Smoked Paprika is a popular spice that originated in Spain’s La Vera region, where farmers harvest and dry the chilli’s (that make paprika) over wood fires, creating a delicious smokey flavour. Smoked paprika has a much more intense flavour then standard paprika and is suited to more robust flavoured dishes.

Smokey paprika is traditionally used to make Spanish paella dishes but can be also be enjoyed in rubs, marinades & stews; any dish where you are looking for that deep woody flavour. We love smokey paprika in homemade baked beans also.
Interesting Facts about Paprika:
Paprika is so famous in Hungary that there is even a ‘Paprika Museum’ in the town of Kaloscsa where apparently it is the 3rd most important place to visit whilst in Kaloscsa.
Traditionally paprika was combined with Henna to dye hair with a dark red tint.
In Spain, Paprika is known as pimenton.

Paprika is high in Vitamin A, which is beneficial for eye, skin, nail and hair health as well as for the immune system. Paprika also contains Vitamin E and Iron.
Store: Keep in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. In warm climates, refrigeration is recommended.
