Wheat grain is one of the most commonly grown grains and is said to have been first harvested for human consumption as far back as 9600 BC. Research suggests the first wheat grain crops to be grown in the Karacadag Mountains of South East Turkey.

Our organic wheat grain (or wheat berries) is commonly used in homes for producing freshly milled wholewheat flour or for cooking. With a sweet, nutty taste and a delightful chewy texture it is a winner freshly milled to make bread or otherwise used as a side accompaniment in much the same way as rice. It has a high protein content which is why is favoured by many over others grains, and its flour is the most popular used around the globe to make bread.

Organic wheat grain is good for adding to soups and casseroles or a vegetable stir fry.

How to cook Wheat grain:

Firstly rinse your wheat berries under running water in a colander until the water runs clear. Then bring to the boil (3 cups water to one cup grain)  and simmer for between 45 minutes and an hour, or until the berries are tender.
