Organic Linseed Grain
From $5.43
Organic linseed’s (also known as flaxseeds,) have a pleasant, nutty flavour and are a healthy addition to any wholefoods diet. They have long been used as an additive to cereals, breads, muffins and smoothies. More recently they have become a popular ingredient for making dehydrated seed crackers or high protein snacks such as bliss balls.
Linseed’s need to be either ground to a powder (Linseed Meal) or chewed very well otherwise they will pass straight through the body otherwise. They can also be soaked prior to eating for ease in digestion. They are best stored in a cool dark area and refrigerated where possible.
Interesting Facts about Linseed’s
Linseed’s are in high demand not only in the industry of feeding humans, but they are also one of the most popular foods chicken farmers feed their chickens for eggs that are high omega 3 fatty acids.
As mentioned above, Linseed’s, when eaten whole, are more likely to pass through the intestinal tract undigested, which means your body doesn’t get all the healthful components. To grind linseed’s yourself, we recommend using one of those little electric coffee grinders and doing this fresh as you need to maintain as many nutrients as possible.
