Corn flakes are a traditional breakfast cereal that has been around since the beginning of the last century after being accidentally discovered when a group of workers for Dr John Harvey Kellogg took a longer lunch break then needed and in the process when they returned to work instead of their rolled grain coming out in sheets, it turned into a thin flake instead. The flake was then baked and the idea for the corn flake was born.
Crispy and delicious, corn flakes are a great way to get the day started. We recommend topping with fresh fruit and nuts and a splash of your favourite milk, or otherwise enjoy as a healthy snack on their own.
NOTE: This product is naturally gluten free however it is processed on machinery with products that may contain gluten.
Recipe Idea:
Corn flakes make up one of our more traditional kids party recipes known as the ‘honey joy’. Simply combine 4 cups of our low gluten corn flakes with 2 tablespoons of honey, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 1 cup of sultanas and 1 cup of shredded coconut. Be sure to heat your coconut oil and honey together first, mixing until well combined then adding to your dry ingredients, mix well and place in your pattie pan papers, baking in a moderate oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden.

Brothers Dr. John Harvey & Will Keith Kellogg (the producers of the first corn flakes) together ran a famous hospital and health spa in Battle Creek, Michigan that stressed healthful living and kept its patients on a diet that eliminated caffeine, meat, alcohol, and tobacco.
The first corn flakes were made available to the general public in 1906.
