Chai Tea
From $8.95
Revered in Eastern cultures for many thousands of years, Chai is a combination of black tea and warming spices that makes for a delicious flavoured tea, warm to the belly (and heart).
The folklore surrounding Chai dates back to between 5000 and 9000 years ago in an ancient royal court – said to be either in India or Siam. Legend has it that the reigning king created the recipe as a healing Ayurvedic drink and that throughout the earlier years, it was prepared via a diverse range of methods and contained an equally diverse array of spices depending on what was needed. Between regions the recipes varied and it was served both hot and cold as a remedy for minor ailments.
Interestingly, traditional Chai didn’t contain black tea until the 1930’s.
Our personal recommendation with this blend is to add a little fresh ginger to the pot – delicious!
