Interesting Facts About Carob:

The carob tree, is a large evergreen tree that  produces sweet carob pods that are actually classified as legumes. It is known also by its beautiful botanical name Ceratonia siliqua and is native to the Mediterranean as well as Western Asia where it has been cultivated for over 4 thousand years.

Carob is a fruit in the legume family and comes from a pod. It is much like peas in that it grows in a cylindrical shape being supported by a thick trunk from which the pod initially grows.

Carob has many health benefits mostly owing to its vitamin and mineral content. It contains the minerals calcium, zinc, potassium and phosphorus.
