From $4.50
A delicious Mediterranean blend of garlic, tomatoes, red bell peppers and some of our favourite Italian herbs; basil, oregano and marjoram.
In the Kitchen:
Italian Mixed herbs are great for using in cooking be it flavouring a homemade Bolognese sauce, topping a pizza, making garlic bread, an omelette, or bringing that beautiful Mediterranean flavour to soups or salads. One of our personal favourite is rubbing chopped vegetables in a little olive oil and then sprinkling with the herbs for roasting.
Interesting Facts about Italian Herbal History:
Herbal use in Italy started around 100 AD and was greatly influenced by Greek practices and in particular the work of Turkish born Greek physician Dioscorides.
Dioscorides was thought to be the physician of Antony and Cleopatra.
The use of herbs in cooking throughout the provinces of Italy continues to influence Western countries with Italian style cooking a popular favourite in many households.
