Organic Green Sencha Tea

A delicious Japanese green sencha tea of the highest quality. Green sencha comes from the same plant (camellia sinsensis) as the black and white tea varieties with a light refreshing flavour.

Green tea is a healthier version of black tea as it has not undergone the same processing, which means it has more anti-oxidants and less caffeine.  The drinking of green tea originated in China more than 4000 years ago, making it the oldest known tea. Tea is now consumed around the world with around 1 million tonnes being produced per year, mostly in China.

Health benefits of Green Tea

Green tea is well-known for its wide range of anti-oxidants that are used by the body to protect cells from damage, slow-down cell ageing and reduce inflammation.

Drinking green tea can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke and it can lower high blood pressure. It can also help to balance blood sugar and will lower LDL (bad) cholesterol in the body. Studies show that drinking 1-3 cups of green tea per day significantly reduces the risk of any disease.

How to use Green Tea

For the perfect cup steep for 30-40 seconds in water that is between 80-90’C.  Green tea tastes great in combination with peppermint and can also be cooled for a refreshing cold drink.
